No more excuses--30 Day Challenge

So...I've been "too busy" to regularly hit the gym. But, if I'm REALLY being honest, I really have no excuse. With having a treadmill at home, I can do cardio any time! And I have a body, so I can do body weight exercises all day long. There's a million options on YouTube and probably more on Pinterest.

I. Have. No. Excuses.

I make time to watch tv. I can walk/run on the treadmill or do a few push-ups while watching the tube. Easy, right? Not. So. Much. I'm unmotivated. I have no focus when it comes to getting up off my butt and sweating.

Oh. Yeah. There's that. Sweat...

Sweat is gross.

The bad thing is, even though I despise getting going, I'm always glad I did! I love it AFTER! Everything, including the delicious soreness of muscles that comes with it. Including the SWEAT!!! (*gasp*)

So, what am I going to do about it?

I thought this video would be a pretty good start! I own the DVD already. And since it's also free online, I have no excuse!

(Yeah, right...stay tuned for my excuses).

In the meantime...why don't you join me? I've even included a check-off sheet. 30 days.  That's all.

Here's Level 1-

Oh yeah...it's Jillian Michaels. 30 Day Shred. Still in?

Jenn

P.S. Here's a nice little tracking sheet for you to use too. See...No. More. Excuses.

I love Nigel, the President of FirstFitness Nutrition!  He always finds a way to put me on the spot and make me talk.  I always feel so awkward, but then again, I can't STOP talking about our fabulous products!  I love sharing with anyone who will listen about the program that helped me to lose 60 pounds and feel amazing!

FFN Recipe: Fish tacos, coleslaw and Mexican rice

I love fish tacos!  Last summer, when we went on vacation to Panama City Beach, I had fish tacos everywhere we went!  But you and I both know, they’re not especially healthy when served in any restaurant.  So I went on a mission to find a recipe I could modify to fit into the FirstFitness Nutrition menu guide.  I love eating REAL food and finding a good recipe that meets my goals is important.  I don’t cook fancy often, but when I do I go all out!

My fish “tacos” were created by using endive as a shell, piling on the fish and then drizzled it with some of the sauce.  On top of that, I added this coleslaw and had a side of Mexican rice that was awesome!

FFN Friendly Coleslaw
1 16 oz bag of shredded cabbage or one small cabbage shredded
½ bunch of green onions
½ red onion, cut into thin slivers
½ red pepper, cut into thin slivers
½ bunch of cilantro, chopped
1-2 jalopenos, seeded and minced
2-3 tbsp olive oil
1-2 limes, juiced
1 tbsp cumin
Salt & pepper

Combine all ingredients in large bowl, mix well & chill.

Sauce for tacos
½ cup greek yogurt
½ cup green salsa

Combine all ingredients in bowl, mix well & chill.

Fish
White fish (tilapia, swai, etc)-1 filet per person:  I seasoned mine with a little garlic/onion powder

Bake or grill until flakey.

FFN Friendly Mexican Rice
Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup Iberia parboiled brown rice
1/3 cup white onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 to 2 serrano or jalapeño peppers, diced
1/2 poblano pepper, diced
1 Roma tomato, diced
1/4 cup tomato sauce
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
Juice of 1 lime
Cilantro, chopped for garnish

Directions:
1. In a large skillet, heat the oil to medium heat. Add the rice and stir to coat with oil. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until the rice starts to toast and become aromatic. Add the onions, garlic, jalapeño and poblano pepper. Cook for 3 minutes.

2. Add the remaining ingredients, minus the olives, stir gently to combine. Taste for salt, bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and continue cooking for 18 to 20 minutes or until all the broth has been absorbed. Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. Garnish with lime juice and cilantro before serving.

Road Tripping to National Convention

Dusty and I hit the road today for FirstFitness Nutrition's National Convention in Dallas. We loaded up the ice chest and my business bag with healthy snacks and a few products to get us through the trip, but we knew we would have to stop for lunch.

Staying on track when traveling is difficult regardless of how prepared you may be. I decided to hit the blog with our day to help hold me accountable and share with you how making good choices can be done while on the road!

We started out our day with breakfast at home. Both of us chose a Body FX shake and some cantaloupe. Being at home made it easy to stay on track. The challenge was once we hit the road and being surrounded by easy to make bad choices.

Our mid-morning snack was had around 10 am. We both opted for Trimbolic, but I added an SPN energy to mine. This mixture has become part of my regular daily routine. I also chose to have some celery and a few cherry tomatoes.

Around noon, we stopped off in Texarkana to get the Explorer washed and to grab some lunch at Subway. Subway always offers decent choices to help you stay on track when dining out. We eat there often when on the go. Dusty had the Oven Roasted Chicken Breast on whole wheat while I had a veggie chopped salad and another Body FX shake. No photo of lunch, but it was certainly nutritious & delicious.

About 2:30 we made a stop to fuel up at a Pilot around Sulphur Springs, Texas. While Dusty fueled up the Explorer, I hit the restroom. Noticing on the way a few healthy-ish snacks that would make better options than the Cinnabon booth up front, I decided to make a photo collage.
While these choices weren't really bad, I opted for the Ozarka bottle with the "orange stuff" inside. It's my other go-to snack-Trimbolic and SPN Rehydration. Dusty chose to have a fruit snack tray we had in the ice chest. But it's always awesome to know you can find good choices at a gas station!

Obviously, since we are road tripping to NatCon, I must share about it...right? We got all checked in to our room and unpacked only to find fancy stamped toilet paper in the fancy bathroom's "water closet"...

And then we headed down to check-in for convention! We ran into Rudina and Kacie down at check in and I convinced Rudina to take a photo of us!
Notice the V.I.P. on my "hang tag"? That means dinner with Nigel, President & Co-Founder of FirstFitness Nutrition, tonight! Super excited!!!

Dinner was fabulous! Greatly enjoyed it! And my date was looking mighty handsome too!

We had dinner at Rafain's and oh my yummy! It was phenomenal!

So glad I made accommodations earlier in the day by drinking shakes so I could enjoy dinner this evening! We always have products in hand to help us meet our goals!

We are products of our products and use them daily!

More to come tomorrow! As Steve would say-"To your success!"

Low Carb Breakfast Burrito

Thank you to Michelle at "Eat Teach Laugh Craft" for this awesome recipe! I'm always careful about the processed foods I eat, so when shopping for lunch meat I always ask for a nitrate free option.

July 6-12 Menu

Even though we won't be home half of this week, I still made a plan. Planning my meals and putting them on paper helps keep me focused and on track. You can eat healthy while on the road and staying in a hotel.

Have a great week!

New UBC starts now!

I always keep an active FirstFitness Nutrition Ultimate Body Challenge going for several reasons. One, I can score FREE products! I love free stuff! Everyone who completes their challenge, whether they be a customer or distributor, gets a coupon for $100 in free product. Plus, you get a beach towel. I have quite the collection of beach towels.

Another reason I keep an active UBC going, is because as a distributor it helps hold ME accountable. I can't get too far off my program because I have results to post at the end of my 90 days. Someone WILL see my photos. Generally, my goals involve being active and staying healthy and maintaining. I can't go gaining all my weight back (or even just a little) and have YOU trust me to help you reach your goals, right? I can't imagine buying product from someone who can't show me their results and/or that they've maintained. Know what I mean? I consider myself my best marketing tool. What you see is a lot of hard work to eat right on a regular basis and workout. We all know that's what we NEED to do, we just don't always do it. I know if I don't stay on track, I most definitely WILL gain my weight back. Can't have that happening. My program does work. It should instill a lifestyle in you. One that you know will work for the long-term. I'm not saying its easy. But it is doable. And you can reward yourself. Just remember ice cream (or whatever your dessert of choice may be) is a treat. A treat is something you have on occasion. Not every day or a couple of times a day. ;)

And finally...my main reason for keeping an active UBC is that in order to SELL you products that I KNOW works, I have to BELIEVE in them. I must be a product of the product--YOU should see that I've gotten results from products that I trust. And I have. 60 pounds lost. The first 34 came off super fast (in 45 days) back in he fall of 2011. The remaining 26 have fallen off as a result of my continuing to live my new lifestyle and becoming more active. I've done things in the last year I wouldn't have dreamed of doing just 3 years ago. I've run a couple of 5k races. You can find me in the gym, knowing pretty much what those crazy contraptions in the weight room do and actually lifting weights. Or doing different fitness classes, like Barre (which I love!) or HOT yoga (which I love yet I despise). And a bootcamp here and there. Or at the softball fields, getting picked by the girls to be the mom who competes to win "Lose your lunch" and actually winning! (See Facebook for proof!)

You see, while FFN got me started on my weight loss journey a few years ago, it has done so much more than just helped me lose weight. I'm happier, healthier, wealthier (we can talk about that if you're interested) and my family is too!

I'm not sure what you're waiting for...but I understand. It took me almost a year to commit to this program and these products.  But I'm so glad I did!

P.S. My day 4 weigh/measure day is tomorrow! Eeeeekkkkk! Super excited!
